Student support services: everything you need to know
University is exciting, rewarding and challenging but everyone’s journey is different. We all need a helping hand sometimes so if you want some extra study support, are feeling overwhelmed or just want someone to chat to, help is always available.
Here are some of our support services and programs you can take advantage of to get the most out of your uni experience.
UniEdge – your first stop
UniEdge is a collaboration between all of our support services. Think of it as an all-in-one program helping first-year students. If you’re joining us at Murdoch for the first time, make sure you check out UniEdge. It’s a great way to kick-start your degree and meet some awesome people along the way.
Have you met one of our Student Success Advisors?
If you haven’t already, you definitely should! We can’t over-emphasise how important they are to your university journey. They are your first point of contact for support so if you’re ever in doubt, reach out to a Student Success Advisor or someone at one of our myMurdoch Advice locations for help with a range of questions or concerns.
Pass with flying colours
Want some extra help with a challenging subject? Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) are a great way to learn from successful students in a friendly and relaxed environment. The sessions can develop your academic skills, but also connect you with other students studying the same course.
PASS is just one of the programs on offer in addition to other handy resources such as workshops and online modules.
Clubs and societies
Want to get involved in campus life and meet people with a shared interest? Check out the Murdoch Guild’s Clubs and Societies. There are over 100 clubs and societies to choose from and if have a new idea for a club, you can start your own!
Looking after your health and wellbeing
We also provide a range of professional services as well as opportunities to keep fit and active while you study.
- Counselling – the Murdoch University Health Counselling Service is a team of experienced counsellors who provide a confidential and free service to students.
- Medical service – our medical service on our South Street campus is available.
- Sports – we all know how important exercise is to our overall health and wellbeing and it has the added benefit of being a great way to meet new friends! From team sports to yoga classes, there’s plenty of ways to get involved.
If you're unsure about who to contact for support, call or visit a myMurdoch Advice location. Or check out our support services available for international students.
