Social media strategy workshop a sell-out in Singapore
Murdoch University’s alumni recently learned more about the latest advances in social media strategy at a sell-out workshop hosted at Murdoch’s Singapore campus.
Dr Catherine Archer, Academic Chair of Strategic Communication at Murdoch’s School of Arts, presented along with invited guests from Facebook Singapore and Rice Strategic Communications at the one-day professional workshop.The Dean of Murdoch University Singapore, Associate Professor Peter Waring, welcomed Murdoch alumni to the workshop, stating that “..it was difficult to think of a phenomenon that had impacted more domains of human activity than the rise of social media”.
The workshop covered contemporary topics such as developing the skills of a business user, building communities online, the perils and potential of working with influencers and choosing the right social media platform.
Clair Deevy, Facebook’s Director of Community Affairs Asia Pacific, explained how to get the best value from Facebook and Instagram pages by attracting users through creative photo editing apps.
Ms Deevy suggested that businesses could appeal to Facebook users by getting creative with content and scheduling postings on a continuous and evolving pursuit of new ideas and products to catch customer needs.
Nicholas Leong, Account Director, and Alex Goh, Senior Digital Marketing Executive at Rice Strategic Communications for Asia, spoke of the power of storytelling in social media.
Attendees included those from the government sector, not-for-profits, creative consultancies, media agencies and small to large businesses.
The highly successful workshop closed with the alumni uncovering new opportunities, ready to explore the future with additional tools in the social media world.
