Graduates from Murdoch University’s Singapore campus have had their degrees recognised by the Chinese civil service, opening more employment opportunities to current students and alumni.

The Chinese Service Centre of Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) from China’s Ministry of Education, has accredited all degree programs offered by Murdoch University and delivered via Kaplan in Singapore, backdated to July 2011.

Murdoch’s Deputy Vice Chancellor International Professor Lyn Karstadt, said the endorsement was a clear indication of the quality of the programs offered by Murdoch University in Singapore.

“This recognition of Murdoch degrees will give our Chinese graduates some tremendous employment opportunities in public service, global and multi-national organisations, and the private sector,” she said.

“As a truly global university, with a reputation for quality teaching, research and satisfaction, Murdoch is very proud to achieve the accreditation, which will help our Chinese graduates contribute back to their nation.”

Given the increasing number of Chinese students pursuing overseas education, the CSCSE’s primary role is to provide professional services and support for them during their studies and after they return.

As part of this remit, the CSCSE conducts extensive and thorough reviews of select transnational programs and confers accreditations to worthy institutions, helping Chinese students gain employment on their return to China.

Murdoch University Singapore Dean Associate Professor Peter Waring said: “Murdoch and Kaplan in Singapore are very proud to receive this accreditation from the Chinese government and we look forward to welcoming more Chinese students to discover the first class learning experience we offer in Singapore.”

Beginning their partnership in 2006, Murdoch University and Kaplan have conferred more than 10,000 graduates in Singapore. The partnership currently offers more than 250 double major degree programs that offer students industry-relevant experiences and qualifications.
