Murdoch University has won the Website of the Year in the education category at the Sitefinity 2017 awards.

The awards, which started in 2011, recognise innovative websites across the globe based on exceptional design, creativity, functionality and user experience via a public voting system.

Murdoch took out the top award in the education category which had over 20 nominations from around the world. The Sitefinity Awards received over 6,000 votes across the board with winners in other categories including Aston Martin, IMG, Nestle and Aptiv.

The University’s Associate Director of Digital Innovations, Julie Whitlock, said this was a significant achievement for Murdoch’s website, which was developed using leading technology provider Sitefinity.

The award is confirmation our website is an internationally-recognised leader in digital experience.

“Based on customer surveys, the new website is extremely easy to navigate and find information, with 78 per cent of users reporting they ‘love’ the visual style, and that it serves their intended purpose,” she said.

Murdoch University’s Director of Marketing and Communications Neil Cullingford said the award illustrated that Murdoch is striving towards delivering an outstanding digital experience for students, staff and collaborators around the world.

“Our digital environment and being globally connected is a priority for Murdoch as it enables new ways of collaborating, learning, working and living,” he said.

“Our website was relaunched as a digital destination in January 2017 to help us build recognition and awareness in our communities, as well as improve the digital experience for all users from future students through to our alumni. We are delighted to receive this recognition.”

Murdoch University is now in the running for the overall Best Web Experience honour with the most votes to be announced at ProgressNEXT 2018 global conference from 29 May to 1 June.
