Murdoch University is pleased to announce it has signed an agreement with worldwide education services provider Navitas Limited (ASX: NVT) to support its campus in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The University’s Dubai campus, established in 2008, currently teaches more than 400 students in undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in the fields of business, information technology, education, media and communication.

Navitas, an ASX-listed company with extensive experience in the region, will provide operational support for the Dubai campus including the management of leased premises and facilities, contracting University-approved staff, administrative support and student recruitment.

All teaching programs and courses offered at the Dubai campus will be provided by Murdoch University, which will retain complete control over all academic matters.

It is expected that a range of new programs and study options will be introduced to support the demand for high-quality tertiary education in the fast growing, dynamic region.

To support this growth, relocation of the campus may occur when appropriate premises in Dubai can be located, keeping in mind the interests of students.

Subject to required regulatory approvals and leasing arrangements, Navitas will start its operational support of the campus from January 2019 for a period of 15 years, until December 2033.

Murdoch University Vice Chancellor, Professor Eeva Leinonen said: “This new partnership with Navitas, a highly experienced and innovative provider of educational support services, will build on Murdoch’s respected reputation in the U.A.E. and will enable more students from across the globe to access the transformative educational opportunities offered by Murdoch University in Dubai.”

Navitas Group Chief Executive Officer, Rod Jones said partnering with Murdoch University to support its Dubai campus was an opportunity to leverage the group’s expertise in the region where it had operated for more than ten years.

“We look forward to working with the University to further improve access to high quality tertiary education in the Gulf and Middle East region and to providing students with a fantastic and rewarding university experience,” Mr Jones said.
