Dog n Jog returns to Murdoch Uni
Dog lovers can keep fit for free with their four legged friends later in March as the popular Dog n Jog event returns to the Murdoch University Perth campus.
Pooches can take their owners on a 3.5km walk or run, or a 10km dash around Murdoch’s scenic campus on Sunday 25 March, starting at 9am. Those without a dog are also welcome to take part. All doggy friends will receive a small gift at the end of the race.
After a satisfying morning of exercise, participants can enjoy a range of activities and replenishments on Bush Court, in the heart of Murdoch’s campus.
These will include:
- A pooch photo booth so pet owners can get a printed picture with their doggie.
- Talks from a range of experts from The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University on topics such as pet behaviour.
- Free dental checks for our furry friends.
- A showcase of dog-friendly local businesses ranging from pet photography, pet birthday cakes, pet skincare to pet accessories, just to name a few.
- Face painting for kiddies and big kiddies.
- Coffee and Hot Dog gourmet food vans.
- Live acoustic music from Murdoch alumnus Ethan Kavanagh.
Clara Millet from the Murdoch Vet Trust said the annual Dog N Jog event was as much about the health of pet owners as the dogs themselves.
"Many people love to exercise and socialise with their dogs so the event is a wonderful way to bring people together,” Ms Millet said.
“We’re delighted to be able to offer a variety of fun activities to reward the participants after their efforts.”
The first Dog N Jog event was run in 2013, proving popular with the local community, as well as Murdoch staff and students.
Hundreds are expected to attend and registrations are required via the event website.
Free parking is available and the event will start and finish at Bush Court.
