Community Cinemas return to Murdoch for summer season
Murdoch University will welcome local moviegoers to its Perth campus again this summer, with the return of Telethon Community Cinemas on 13 December for an extended season.
Blockbusters including A Star is Born, Small Foot, First Man, The Girl In The Spider’s Web, Robin Hood, The Nutcracker and The Four Realms, Bohemian Rhapsody, and many more, will be coming to Murdoch’s big screen which has a new location at the corner of South Street and Murdoch Drive.
As in previous years, guests can bring their own picnic, or choose from a variety of delicious food options including pizza, popcorn, ice-cream and a fully licensed bar.
Organiser Ken Gibbons said the Telethon Community Cinemas would offer some new ticketing options this year, including non-expiring gift vouchers just in time for Christmas, and smartphone ticketing, however it was the friendly community atmosphere and great movie choices that kept families coming back each year.
“Telethon Community Cinemas is Perth’s family-friendly affordable outdoor cinema, proudly donating all its profits to charities improving the quality of life of kids with disabilities or serious health concerns,” he said.
In its 18-year history, Telethon Community Cinemas has raised more than $8.33 million for children’s charities including Horse Power Swan Valley, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Edmund Rice Camps, Rebound, Cahoots and Telethon.
This year, funds will also be donated to 12 Buckets and the Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre.
“This is made possible by more than 500 volunteers who donate their time each year to provide friendly old-fashioned customer service and a great cinematic experience for the local community,” Mr Gibbons said.
Murdoch's cinema season will continue until 12 April 2019.
